  • I want to be Nokoru Imonoyama when I grow up

    This guy:

    Nokoru Imonoyama

    Kicks ass.

He’s from the manga and anime titled: Clamp School Detectives.

Yeah I want to be him when I grow up. Yes I’m aware he’s only 12 and I’m well… somewhat older.   But
he’s awesome. Sort of a cross between James Bond, Bruce Wayne, and
Richie Rich, with something uniquely anime thrown in there for good
    measure.

Here are what makes him cool in bullet form:

    -  He’s lazy and never does his required work, in fact goes out of his way to avoid it and waits till the last minute whenever possible

    -  He’s completely disorganized and randomly loses papers throwing stuff in the trash when he can’t be bothered with it.

    -  He’s terrible at sports and athletics. It’s his worst subject.

    -  He never cooks (just has others cook for him)

    -  He disregards anything that isn’t of immediate importance to him

    -  He spends money extravagantly on things like parties and does not ever hold back funds

    -  He’s infinitely smooth with language and incredibly polite. A perfect gentleman they say.

    -  He’s a super genius with a photographic memory. NASA has been trying
to recruit him since he was very young. And he presents physics papers
on time travel to to the university faculty at the age of 12.

    -  He’s super wealthy. He’s the youngest son of the wealthiest family in Japan.

    -  He tries not to make many friends and keeps everyone at a distance
because his life is constantly at risk since he’s the son of said
wealthy family and he doesn’t want to see anyone get hurt.

    -  He has two incredibly cool friends which he purposefully recruited to be his “crew”.

One is a pirate (technically a master thief, zorro-esque):

And the other is a ninja:

    - His crew is specifically chosen to compensate for his own weaknesses.
Akira (pirate) for example is an excellent cook and Suoh (ninja) is
super organized. And both have extraordinary physical prowess. And of
course they are both also exceedingly intelligent.

    -  He has a unique super power  that is the capacity to develop
enhanced memory, awareness, senses, and physical capacity when
answering the plea of a woman in distress. For example he can detect a
woman in distress from up to 2 Kilometers away. And he has the daily routines of every woman on campus completely memorized.

    -  He doesn’t take anything seriously, except for women in distress

    -  He enjoys having fun and messing with people

    -  He started a detective agency because he was bored:

Their mission to help any and all damsels in distress of course.

    -   He builds a robot replica of himself so he can take a nap under his desk rather than do his work.

    -  He always carries a hand fan even though the entire school is
climate controlled. He does it cuz it’s unexpected and it looks cool.
He can make dramatic gestures with it and the likes.

Really this is pretty much one of the most unique and interesting characters I can think of.

Hmm I just need to find two people to be in my crew…

  • in other words: he doesn’t give a flying flip and enjoys life!  ima marry him :)

  • I’ve never heard of him, but now…..I wanna be him too!

  • Funny sometimes you xanga page crashes explorer and sometimes it doesn’t.  I need to figure out the cases it doesn’t.  It seems when I’m only looking at your page and no other xanga pages I can view it with too much of a problem.  I will have to experiment more on this.

Anyways I never read this manga because it seems… how do I put this nicely… for like 12 years olds!  Okay I know this is coming from someone that love love loves sailormoon but that’s not the point.

I guess I will give this a try some day.  ^_^  Though it’s written by clamp and they are pretty good… I think of them more of a hit or miss, like they have some really good stuff and they have really boring stuff… you know?  Or maybe you just love all their stuff.  ^_^

I don’t think I gave this series a chance… so maybe I will.  This sort of reminds me of host club.. have you read that?

  • @raindrops23 - really? Weird.  I wonder if other xangans have problems with my site?  Geez that would suck.  I just copied a theme from the theme browser and only made very minor modifications so I’m not sure what the problem would be.  Maybe I’ll try changing themes just in case.

CLAMP is wonderful. Even their stuff I don’t like, I kinda like. They challenge norms and make people question things. For that alone I love them.

But you’re right they do get a little boring sometimes. It’s just the character development I always find interesting. The characters are fascinating. Card Captor Sakura and Angelic Layer are my favorite since they mix drama and action pretty evenly (though the beginning of the CCS anime is pretty boring). I like Rayearth, Tsubasa Chronicles, and XXXHolic a lot too. Lots of people love Chobits, but it’s probably my least favorite of theirs. There is a limit to how much cutesy-stuff I can take I guess.

I just borrowed Host Club from a friend of mine! I heard it was hilarious. I really can’t wait to read it! ^_^

But first Azumanga Daioh and My Hime and finishing up X Manga and Alice 19th and reading the last troubadour and angels and demons, and A Song for Arbonne, and the latest hellsing and naruto manga… And there’s like 5 or six other manga series I’ve borrowed. Gah! I’ll be reading forever! :D

  • Thanks! =D ..Yeah, I should really ask for keys… -_-’

  • @nephyo - yeah I don’t know what’s going on, but it does seem that when I just view your page without any other xanga pages going then it’s cool.  But I love loading tons of pages at the same time.  I know as a computer engineer I should know better… but so what!

Yeah I have no idea why people love Chobits so much, I thought it was okay. I do like CCS and Rayearth.  I actually didn’t like angelic layer since it reminded me of Chobits.  *shudders*  I haven’t read X/1999 yets.

I use to like Tsubasa but it got really confusing after a while since I haven’t really read everything Clamp made and they put like all their other characters in it.  Also it has resently got really dark… I won’t say more if you haven’t gotten that far.

I think you will like Host Club a lot, it was sooo funny!! ^_^  I watched the whole anime in a day.   So good. ^_^

I haven’t read too many mangas recently.  I was such an manga reader… I use to just download fansubs since it was free.  I swear I have over 200 GB of manga scans on my external drive from college and my early working years… I also just to hang out at borders for hours reading though mangas, I can read through a book in 20 minutes my friends think i’m crazy since it takes them hours to get through it.  I guess the pictures help the story along but I just want the story!  ^_^

  • RYC: Yeah, like three people read my site anyway. And I occasionally get visits from google from people who search for “I’d like to meet you someday” or “we’d laugh if we were younger” or “the fastest a spaceship can travel”.

  • @raindrops23 - Well I tried changing my theme. Let me know if it still does that weirdness for you. I’ve never really had problems and I open up mutliple blog pages at once including my own some times. I’m using firefox 3 with noScript though not explorer. I’d be curious to know if you have the same issue with firefox or opera or safari.

Wow your manga reading skills sound impressive! I go pretty fast but not nearly that fast. Part of what slows me down is I am so careful to read all of the tiny print sfx text and all that. I hate to miss any little detail.

I was much more into anime than manga while I was in college myself. (mostly cuz I *love* the music! ^_^) I only really read all of Kenshin back then and a few random mangas. These days though I’m reading a lot more manga than watching anime.

I think you’ve probably read as much or more clamp as I have. I really haven’t gotten that far in Tsubasa chronicles or X. I can see why Tsubasa gets confusing though. I stopped reading and watching it and started looking for other clamp stuff to read first.

I know Angelic Layer is a little like Chobits and closely related, but it’s not as pretentious IMO. And the action scenes are heckuva cool. It’s more about the *real* people then the dolls. And I like the characters more.

Oh well Host Club soon enough! I can’t wait!

If you have any other manga you can recommend please send it my way!

  • @nephyo - Ah this is much better!  Sorry I am usually so busy after work that I almost never check xanga, so I check it during work which only allows us to use internet expolorer.

I think you should read host club before anything else, because you will probably get through it in a day anyways.

will do if I run into anything interesting I will tell you about it.  but right now me and W are watching Macross F and it seems that’s all we have time for even though it only comes out once a week.
