Xangan Appreciation
Pixie wrote a post where she acknowledged some of the friends she’d made recently on Xanga posting links to their blogs. I thought this is a heck of a cool idea and I realized I’ve never really acknowledged all the incredible Xangans I’ve met and interacted with on here. So I want to do that right now.
I know I’m going to miss someone. Maybe a lot of someones. If I do please message me, and I’ll add you and also you have my permission to slap me upside the head, across the face, or sock me the gut, your choice, should we ever meet in person.
[disclaimer if you work for xanga and/or have many hundreds or thousands of subscriptions you are exempt from this clause. If I didn't include you, it's because I'm an inherently jealous and envious person, even though I probably really love your blog. ^_^]
Real Life Friends:
moonlitsage
One of my good college friends and the one who told me about Xanga. So blame him for everything I’ve ever said on here! He has a really interesting blog and is a skilled writer and artist too who leaves very insightful comments. He’s also helped me out in a number of situations.sharringan
Another good college friend. Only this one doesn’t blog even though he really should. We’ve had amazing IM conversations and I feel I can relate to a lot of the things he says about life and personal experiences he’s been through. He’s also a brillaint chef, a skilled businessman, and he plays a very mean game of RISK.rianahntr
The only real life friend I have so far that I met through Xanga and have met in the real world. She’s been an amazingly great friend to me offline and online and is probably the one person from xanga with whom I have had the most and the most involved IM conversations. She’s also a brilliant story writer who should have long since been published. But she hasn’t written that many stories lately. Her blog is still amazing even when she hasn’t been updating very often.I hope to one day become as skilled at writing stories as she is.
There’s one other real life friend whom I care about who has a xanga, but I don’t think she would want me linking her blog so she’s not being listed here unless she indicates otherwise. But if she happens to be reading this, although I’m sure you already know, I want to say again that you mean an enormous amount to me too even if I’m not linking or mentioning you here.
By the way if any of you are uncomfortable with me linking your blog, let me know asap and I’ll remove you right away.
People Who Have Been Around Forever:
shacamin, junipoo, megan__rose, secretsite4me, stormx11, aalapd, sugarkitten, masked1man, dewdropsonthegrass
The above list of subscribers and/or friends have been on my Xanga pretty much since the beginning of time. I have no idea how they found me, where they come from (sorry it’s not your fault, it’s just my memory doesn’t go back that far!) or why on god green’s earth most of them are still here after all this time, but I want to thank them because knowing that someone out there at least might be reading some of what I was writing is part of what encouraged me to keep writing. And I’ve been grateful to you for your occassional comments and I’ve always looked forward to them.dewdropsonthegrass btw in particular has left many many comments on my blog for almost as far back as I can remember. And I really appreciate that! My thanks to you.
So moving on…
The Rest of You

Hanah is my good friend and my first real online friend. There’s not much to say here that I didn’t already say in that entry, except that she informed me not long ago that we found each other through the Featured Questions a fact which I had forgotten when writing that entry. Let this be a lesson to all of you all that sometimes something good can come of answering those pointless seeming questions. heh. Oh and now I’ve mentioned you twice! So ha! Take that! Have fun golfing…DarkAngelKat00
Misa is the only othe xangan friend with whom I have regular online IM conversations (besidea Hanah and Melissa) and she is a person with whom I seem to have an extraordinary number of things in common personality-wise if not interest wise. She’s also one of the few people in the world who enjoys role playing online via IM and chatroom, something I’ve discovered I love to do. ^_^ In addition to role playing we have many deep and fascinating conversations about life, society, and everything. She’s been having a lot of complexities in her life keeping her off of xanga and not often online at all. I hope everything works out for her!Huginn
He’s named after Odin’s bird for “thought” and loves violent anime. For those reasons alone he’d be awesome. But he writes really great and funny blog entries particularly some about religion and atheism and similar topics too. He has great diagrams! ^_^ And he is one of the oldest subscribers of my blog who has commented regularly.MuseErato
Really one of the very first Xangans whose writing style and skill really impressed me. I discovered her through one of her (probably many) featured blog entries. I don’t really know her that well but I still greatly enjoy reading and occassionally commenting on her blog.polymergoddess
This one has a sort of a story to it. I commented on her blog entry on racism that was featured and she took the time to send me a private message specifically acknowledging the comment that I had written. I thought that was so cool. And ever since then I’ve tried to acknowledge comments I found meaningful or significant on my blog. Since then we’ve exchanges some xanga messages and occassionally comment on each other’s blogs. Her blog is at times really serious and other times really hilariously funny but always very very good. She’s a skilled writer who I sort of look up to.elvesdoitbetter
She’s always been hanging around my blog leaving pesky insightful comments that challenge my view point and force me to think! Hey stop that! ^_^ haha. She’s another really skilled blogger whose blog I love to read. Some of her insights into the way life works and the nature of the media and society are really phenomenal. I am often awed. And more importantly she also once sent me a playlist of great songs that I listen to when my depression hits me that might yet be the death of me but for which I am eternally grateful!qccan
She has a wonderful blog with hilarious and interesting content from all over the internet and a lot of educational content about mythology and history. And her own original entries are either heartwarming or hilarious. She made it to the final three in Xanga Idol 1 and I was very pleased to help fight for her victory. And it annoyed me to no end that she didn’t win. Really… I’m still mad. Haha. Guess I’m competitive sometimes. She leaves incredible comments on my blog too. One in particular I remember was after I wrote a really depressing self pitying sort of blog entry and she posted a short story in reply that made me see things differently and totally cheered me up!fullmetalbunny
The story for this connection is unfortunately rather embarrasing. Since I met her sort of by writing a message to her where I was sort of a being an dumbass (everyone’s allowed to be one once right?). Haha. But for some reason she forgave me and I hope that we’re friends now. She has a brilliant blog filled with funny stories that becomes even more brilliant when she writes seriously and from the heart. She also wrote a really nice review of my blog on blogged.com for which I am extroardinarily grateful.vaultESL
ccan’s brilliant campaign manager who is a comedic genius. I believe we met through that campaign. His blog is always enormous fun and he has extraordinarily excellent taste in american animation and leaves great and very funny yet pertinent comments on my blog entries.raindrops23
her blog was recommended to me by another xangan and I’m so glad it was! She’s one of the only xangans I’ve met who leaves fairly lengthy comments that are still pertinent and interesting. Not as lengthy as mine mind you! But we’ve only known each other a short time but we’ve had a number of fairly interesting and involved comment discussions on my entries and hers. We’re very different but I know I’ve learned a lot from our conversations and getting her perspective on things. I look forward to her comments whenever she leaves them.purplepixiepoo
We sort of just met but we’ve already had a pretty long comment conversation that I quite enjoyed! And you also gave me the idea to write this entry for which I am very grateful! I’m looking forward to communicating with you more and more.Jesus I didn’t realize there were so *many* of you. I’m gonna have to speed this up or I’ll never get through you all.
buckeyegirl31 – Thanks for the wonderful review on blogged! And for all the great comments.
zunky - You’ve done an excellent job “stalking me.. as a friend” so far! Keept it up!
katiefinger – You’ll never out absentmindedness me!
CanadianBroad – You came here looking for an argument but I don’t think we’ve argued at ALL yet. But thanks for all your comments anyway! Especially the funny ones
Legendairy – You’ll find out that the Kryptonite king has naught to fear even from Legendairy Batmans! En Garde!
The44thHour – Or whatever you’re calling yourself these daysI’ve got “something important” to say to you and that’s that I think I really can see nothing my fellow qccanite!
Vitamin_D - your blog is an artistic masterpiece and I am positive you will be a very brilliant and famous author.
satanz_fave_daughter – You just got here but you’ve already left quite a few interesting comments! It has not gone unnoticed or unappreciated.
Southernlass – I *still* think you’re kinda scary. hahaha. I can’t imagine reading all my xanga subscriptions.
Leonidas – your blog always brings up fascinating topics of current events that challenge my perspectives and your poetry posts are… well… poetic.
Death_Note7 - I hope we get to chat again about Death Note and anime and our shared impeccable taste in music! Yay Utada Hikaru and BoA!
california_gal - Thanks again for picking “If Only” way back when.
LiveYourLifeCrazy777 – Haven’t seen you online in a while but I enjoyed debating with you while it lasted my worthy adversary! I still think you’re an excellent writer.
goblin_silver - You’ve already given me anime recommendations. Yeah you’ll fit in just fine here. There are almost certainly more of you but I’m going to stop now before I drive myself insane. I may edit this post later to add other people. And please accept my sincerest apologies for anyone I forgot. Not everyone who is important to me on Xanga is listed here, but everyone listed here IS important to me.
Xanga has been really insanely ridiculously good to me. And words cannot describe how deep my gratitude goes to all of you for making it that way! I wish you all the best in the world. And I hope I never disappoint with my blogs or comments.
Thank you all so much!

You are very important to me too you know. Thank you for the link, that is very sweet. You know what, I think this is so sweet, I’m gonna sing for you if you want. :]] And I’m gonna post it on my blog.
Also, I looove our conversations. It makes me feel like I have a new friend with whom I can share just about everything. And I’m very happy.
@purplepixiepoo - really? I don’t know what to say. You don’t have to you know. But yeah of course I wouldn’t mind! I’d be deeply honored.
hahaha, good for you!
@nephyo - I wonder if you have an AIM… :]
That’s really nice.
Holy sheet, this is a long, detailed entry. Thanks for the props. =D
I’ll definately have to use this entry as a guide for exploring other blogs.
*smiles* and *hugs*
Well… I shouldn’t have reacted the way I did either about that message. Should’ve known better. I’m just glad we moved past it. ^_^
@fullmetalbunny - nah I think your reaction was natural and probably pretty much what most people would have done. That message was just really dumb. I’m glad we are beyond it too. Thanks for being so open and understanding.
aw….I’m flattered. Thanks for the mention. And, I might say that I appreciate your blogs as well; you write such very detailed and thoughtful posts. worth reading, definitely. *bows*
now then….incidentally, I am, at this very moment, buying a ticket to see Batman on Saturday.
. and I’m making plans to see it again on Monday. Oh, it’s going to be a glorious weekend!
This is a good blog because it serves a duel purpose. First, it strokes my ego (which enjoys stroking like a cat in heat.) Second, it’s a handy guide for further Xanga exploration.
Also, I feel you should know your xanga is in the select few in the grand expanse of the blogosphere that I actively look forward to reading.
I believe I see someone online…
@purplepixiepoo - haha yup! But I’ve gotta get ready to head to work so I’ll have to do my replies and chat with you later. ^_^
@nephyo - I understand. I’m sorry if I bothered you. Anyway, I’m about to go to sleep. It has been a long day for me. I just needed to uhm finish my final speech for Miss XangAmerica.
@purplepixiepoo - you certainly did *not* bother me! I’m just getting ready, it’s no big deal. You can message me whenever. Have a very nice sleep!
@nephyo - Yeah and that will happen later. :] Haha I’m happy now. I was depressed for almost two days because I lost.. but nah.. I’m happy. I have made my peace with my loss.
@VaultESL - I thought for sure you’d be a midnight opening nighter kinda person. I might have to wait until the fervor dies down a little and see if it’s as good as it looks like it’ll be. Thank you for the compliment.
@elvesdoitbetter - Haha between stroking your ego and stirring up controversy I think my job here is finally complete!
*poof*
*disappears in a puff of smoke*
*reappears a second later*
Oops forgot I’ve got nowhere else to go! Hahaha! Nope guess none of you will get rid of me that easily.
And thanks for the compliment! I am honored that I am one of the chosen few.
@huginn - you are very welcome. I hope you find some interesting ones in your exploration.
@Juanita_pingu - why thank you. Xanga inspires niceness in me.
@rianahntr - *hugs you back* Thanks for always being there. =]
@nephyo - I would, but I work third shift, and it’s probably too late to request a vacation day.sigh. It’s a cold, cruel world.
awww that’s so sweet of you, thanks! also wow you read and are being read by a lot of people! jeez. ^_^ I wish I had so many readers. maybe i will with you putting a link up.
this is kind of an interesting maybe one day i will do something similar. ^_^
@raindrops23 - You are very welcome
I certainly have a lot more readers than I ever expected to be read by that’s for sure! 65 subscribers, 47 friends. And 21 of those subscribers are in just the last week. A year ago I had only one subscriber. haha. Things change rather quickly. But it was a really a concerted effort on my part to get more and it still really isn’t a lot at all. But I’d rather have a small number of close readers than a massive readership count.
You’re right that I read a lot too, I’ve got a crazy 125 subscriptions right now! I don’t read *all* of them but I read a *lot* (and skim a lot more).
I hope you do get lots of new readers because of this post! That’s why I wrote it. And you totally deserve it! ^_^
You should really do an entry like this! It will help me find other interesting xangas to read! And I’m always looking for more.
awww, you mentioned me. that’s made my day
.
@nephyo - btw i want to congrats you on keeping up your blogging thing for more than 3 days, i guessed wrong! ^_^
i like my small readership. i think it’s less heartache that way, you don’t have to try to please everyone and you can be more “real”. i rather have a small group of people that understand that i don’t mean to be mean than a ton of people saying hey you’re mean!!! ^_^ if you know what i mean. hehe.
