  • Glenn Beck

To understand who Glenn Beck is, only one anecdote is really required. This came from a detailed profile of Glenn Beck.

“The animosity between Beck and Kelly continued to deepen. When Beck and Hattrick produced a local version of Orson Welles’ “War of the Worlds” for Halloween — a recurring motif in Beck’s life and career — Kelly told a local reporter that the bit was a stupid rip-off of a syndicated gag. The slight outraged Beck, who got his revenge with what may rank as one of the cruelest bits in the history of morning radio. “A couple days after Kelly’s wife, Terry, had a miscarriage, Beck called her live on the air and says, ‘We hear you had a miscarriage,’ ” remembers Brad Miller, a former Y95 DJ and Clear Channel programmer. “When Terry said, ‘Yes,’ Beck proceeded to joke about how Bruce [Kelly] apparently can’t do anything right — about he can’t even have a baby.”

This is how Beck treats a family that were his friends.

But perhaps you think this was a long time ago and it was back in his “dark days”. Surely he’s evolved and grown a great deal since then right?

But just look at his TV and radio programs. He has attacked President Obama, Obama’s children, Obama’s wife, Obama’s father,  Obama’s grandfather and many members of Obama’s staff in nearly as cruel and baseless terms.

    Here’s just one example:

Most recently he did a segment where he equated the Obama administration with Planet of the Apes!

Do you really think he’d beyond saying something or doing something equally as vicious and cruel as he did back then today? Or worse?

This is who Glenn Beck is. He delights in hurting people.  Surely even if you agree with some of his politics, surely you can see something fundamentally wrong with that careless cruel attitude toward people’s lives and emotions?

The popularity of Glenn Beck is the most terrifying thing I can think of that is happening in this country. Mark my words, he is one very dangerous entity.

  • It is terrifying.  He’s such a goofball yayhoo.  Worse then Limbaugh, which I’d have never thought possible.

I know no one who ADMITS to liking him.

  • Who is this Glen Beck guy? Tendollar4ways seems to love him.

  • Ah ha ha, SMURFS.  Good ol’ Cartman.  ha ha!

what planet?  damn, I wish that man would get the medication he so clearly needs.  those hallucinations and delusions, and still he is paid to speak?

  • @Justin_DeBin - HA HA HA, You’re kidding us, right?

  • @Justin_DeBin - Ten is a Liberal.  Beck is just insane.

  • @Diva_Jyoti - No, he’s always talking about beck, and saying I should watch him.

  • He’s this century’s Father Coughlin, and I think he knows it.

  • @Diva_Jyoti - I don’t know if I’d say *worse* than Limbaugh. But he’s certainly a lot more dangerous. His television show reaches an audience Limbaugh can’t reach and he hasn’t burnt nearly as many bridges in the avenues of power. Limbaugh’s overall audience is probably bigger for now, but Beck is in a more flexible situation with more options because his audience is a broader cross section of America. He probably even has more name recognition than Limbaugh as some people just don’t know anything about radio.  As terrifying as the thought is, it is conceivable he could run for office somewhere and even possibly win. I don’t think he’d risk damaging his TV and radio cash cow by even trying, but you never know.

But in terms of just the vile things they say? I’d have to say Limbaugh and Beck are on pretty even footing. Beck is a little more deluded about history than Limbaugh or at least more ballsy about admitting it, but Limbaugh’s actually a little more clever in coming up with disgusting insults and disguising them beyond a charade of reasonableness. Beck’s more blunt and obvious. Six of one, half dozen of another I guess.

  • I hope FOX News changes someday, their poor excuses for journalists need to go away.

  • @A_NY_Zone61 - I wouldn’t hold my breathe for fox news to change if I were you. Best you can hope for is for them to wratchet it down a bit and go back to only somewhat sickeningly propagandist.

  • @nephyo - I know, and that probably won’t happen either.

  • I’m not sure why people pay so much attention to social/journal/etc
“commentators” like Beck, Hannity, no spin guy(always forget his name),
Olberman(i may have mispelled it), Ed show, etc.. they are far left and
far right and far from journalism. I’ve actually watched all these shows
from time to time, to get a prospective of where my friends always get their flash bits of news ‘facts’ when we have our lively debates, b/c there is so much fiction out
there that my friends draw from these people.

    This is not legit news.

heed them no mind. or however that saying goes. happy friday, everyone.
