  • The Awesome List – American Animation

Because I’m bored this is just a random list of American animation that are truly AWESOME. Anything not on this list is just not sufficiently awesome and that’s all there is to it.

    Gargoyles
    Avatar: The Last Airbender
    Samurai Jack
    Reboot

    Exosquad

    The Pirates of Darkwater

    StarWars CloneWars
    Justice League
    Teen Titans

    Batman The Animated Series
    Transformers (espcially The Movie)
    Megas XLR
    The Critic
    The Simpsons
    South Park
    Family Guy
    Futurama
    Animaniacs
    Pinky and the Brain
    Darkwing Duck
    Duck Tales

Think something else is awesome enough to be on this list?  Make your case!

American Animation only this time. No Anime.

  • I’m not really into tv animation, but I’m showing my geekiness here, but what about the little mermaid? I know it’s by disney, but some could argue that it almost single handly brought back full length animation movies…(at least by disney)

  • Batman Beyond?

  • Impressive list. Isn’t Animaniacs and Pinky & the Brain the same thing? If you go into movies, I would argue for Charlie Brown and several PIXAR ones. But I’ll stick with the TV series.

School House Rock is on my awesome list. It has really catchy tunes that have significant education merit.

Tiny Toons won’t make my cut, but I did have a favorite episode where they spoofed music videos to songs like “Istanbul, Not Constantinople”, “Particle Man”, and “Yakity Yak.”

I won’t make a case for these… but other might since they are so popular.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, GI Joe, He-man, Thundercats, Spongebob Squarepants. Powerpuff girls.

  • That’s a good list. i had forgotten all about the gargoyles and reboot. Bender for President! Hehehe. Thanks for all the support and great commentary during the contest. You were a big help. I’ve enjoyed you and your blog over the past months and will continue to do so. :) My blog count is at 98, btw. You have yourself a great day!

  • Batman: The annimated series was monumental!!!  Batman Beyond was as well!  Bruce Wayne as an old man!!! NICE!!!

Gargoyles was good too!  TMNT, Thundercats, Transformers (the original), and Voltron (again…the original).  I know you mentioned some of them, but they are good enough to mention again… especially Batman!

  • @buckeyegirl31 - Little Mermaid definitely gets honorable mention for that!  I’m staying away from the films though and focusing on the series. If I were considering movies then of the classic Disney stuff, Mulan definitely rates amongst the super awesome. Aladdin and Lion King are also great. And I loved The Iron Giant and The Rats of Nimh too!

  • Well, I don’t feel like the animation here is really anything too spectacular (Family Guy = great animation? Hardly.) There are some pretty awesome shows on your list though. If only they would bring back Animaniacs! That show pretty much defined my childhood.

  • Omg I remember all of those! Wow awesome stuff! ^_^

  • I know it isn’t much, but thanks so much! ^_^ You’re awesome.
Oh and another awesome show was “Freakazoid!” I <3 that show sooo much

  • I think the whole DC animated universe is awesome. Batman, Justice League….best ever. I like them better than the live-action stuff, almost.

What about Dexter’s Lab? Predecessor to Jimmy Neutron, and just as good….

  • oh, and thanks for being part of Team Qccan! yaaayy!

  • I think Dragonball Z should be on that list.

  • @huginn - @Legendairy - I’ve got to watch this Batman Beyond I keep hearng about. Sounds like it’s great. The original batman was definitely one of the best animated series out there.

@moonlitsage - Pinky and the Brain had two spin off series from the original animaniacs: Pinky and the Brain and Pinky, Elmyra, and the Brain so it counts as a separate entry. Tiny Toons, GI Joe, TMNT, and Powerpuff Girls are defintiely honorable mentions.

I’m going to meditate on Thundercats. It might be good enough. hmmm….

    He-Man? Spongebob? No. Just no.

  • @Legendairy - @Amandasbiggestfan -

Voltron and Dragon Ball Z are both anime so that’s why they aren’t on the list. Wait for a future post!

Actually both of those probably won’t make the anime awesome list but they get honorable mention because they make me laugh so hard when I watch them.

    “Form Blazing Sword!”

“Oh no with that much energy he might accidentally destroy the planet!”
